Shrine Mont Camps!

Image
For two weeks this summer I've gone to Shrine Mont, first a week at St. George's, then another at Family Camp. At St. George's we played lots of games, had a haunted-house-and-dance-party night ending in not-so-scary campfire stories, and camping. Announcements at meal times were always funny, and there were actual fans. There was also a Staff vs. The World (current staff vs. old staff) Ultimate Frisbee match. That was the most intense game I've seen in a long time. At family camp I hung out with friends from years prior and kayaked in the youth group. There was a pool party and other evening programs. On the last day, we had a talent show. All in all, it was a great two weeks.

Say "Aaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhh" part 1

Sojo here. This blog  entery is about   TEETH . No I didn't knock out my favorite tooth . ( I don't even have a favorite tooth.)  Well I started my braces stage of my life.πŸ˜€. My  sister thinks getting braces is ARMAGEDDONπŸ’€,  Last night she wrote her Last Will & Testament. But  I think its better to get them now, rather than later. So last Wednesday I got in my spacers. I remember Selah getting her spacers a week earlier & every meal she asked for ice cream & I said she craved  ice cream too much. Then I said sorry for being so misunderstanding, because I craved ice cream after a dinner of chewy pasta. Two day later we went back to the orthodontist to do the second step. This Friday I will get my braces, but for now...                                                                ...To be continued...

Birds in Flight: 2 weeks at Minds in Motion Camp

Image
This is Sojo. Hi. These last 2 weeks I have been at Minds in Motion Summer Camp (making a dance performance with rising 5th and 6th graders with the Richmond Ballet). It is totally good for your child. This year the theme was Birds. It was so AMAZING! The performance was Friday. There was a big surprise. It was all of our different costumes. We wore three different ones during the show. First, we wore our Minds in Motion T-shirts, over our painted Bird shirts, and then we had on a poncho with feathers. The poncho was for the opening, then we took it off. We used claves, rhythm sticks me made to sound like a woodpecker for the woodpecker dance. Then we did the Blue Heron dance. We also did a fun Robin dance to Rockin' Robin with some from the audience. We took off the Bird shirts for the finale. I really liked both weeks of camp. I got to meet new people, do fun things, and learn fun things. I really liked wrapping it all together like a big performance burrito. Each layer made

Who wants a corn dog?

I am going to camp soon! I'm really excited! I'm going to Shrine Mont, to two camps! The first is St. George's, which is a jack-of-all-trades sleepaway camp with games, pool parties, dances, Taco Tuesday, fried chicken, and..... butt buns.(They're not actually gross, they're just two rolls that rose and got baked together. Then you tear them apart and spread butter on it. Yum. Next I'm going to Family Camp, which is exactly what it sounds like, St George's with parents. It will be the 65th anniversary, so, since this is a religious place, Bishop Goff is coming.  There would be an ice cream social(that I can't go to because of the overlap between the two camps) a pool party, hiking, a talent show, bingo, and food. It's going to be awesome. In the past two weeks I have had 50 cent corn dogs, gone to the Funhouse Fest, and packed for camp. At the Funhouse Fest I waited in line for an hour( I timed it) for a tiny bit of brisket and a tiny cup of

Rock here. Today I had the joy of going with my oldest to have lunch on top of the world, well, on top of Richmond, anyway.  She was so appreciative, and so thankful. She knew enough to know what most things were, and young enough to still have that sense of awe and to be unabashed about it. It took nothing but effort and time. I could have stayed in my office and eaten the same leftovers, but we got ourselves off of our rear ends, and walked all of two blocks and even detoured to walk across Capitol Square. We pushed an elevator button (OD for Observation Deck) and found ourselves on the 18th floor of City Hall loving the view. I think of where we were four months ago, and where we are today. I pinch myself to be awake and aware, and to not let this ride, no matter how short, pass me by. Life is too short, and if we don't keep our eyes open we are fools.

Big Jones

HI! I'm Sojo  Higgins. This is my fist time on a blog,  so..   lets  gets started!  Saturday we went to see '' Indiana Jones & the Raiders of the Lost Ark''   on the big screen for the first timeπŸ˜†πŸ˜Šπ…΅πŸ˜‡πŸ˜ˆπŸ’₯πŸ‘»!   Of course I've  seen I. Jones, just not  the πŸ˜‡ [angel] of πŸ’€[death] scene because dad made me cover my eyes. We got seats on the front row .   Sssoo.. that means THE πŸ˜‡ OFπŸ’€SCENE WAS IN OUR FACE!  That was sweet πŸ’₯πŸ˜ˆπŸ‘»πŸ˜ƒ.   If I have only 4 words to explain the scene i'd say: Ghostbusters on a island. After  the movie we went to Bev's Ice Cream. It was a good day.

Happy Father's Day!

Selah here! This is my first entry. Hi. I had to start at some point, didn't I?πŸ˜‰ Well, where to start? Field Hockey camp was awesome.  On the second day, a goalie pulled me aside during water break and asked me if I wanted to be a goalie too.  So I started training for being a goalie, and deflected a ball 60 yards on the first try, if I do say so myself. On the fourth day I got my gear. I'm tellin' you, that bag is bigger than an overweight tuba! Today we went to Mom's Siam for lunch. It was amazing. Before that we gave Dad origami and stuff. Two really cool solar powered lanterns, and origami penguin and an origami whale.

So we have a blog

Rock here. We got a family blog for us to put up stories, thoughts, opinions and pictures about our life and times. The days go by fast, and our lives are going by faster. So before the girls get too big, and while we still can, I thought I would document our life together, thehigginslife. Hence, higgins.life Enjoy!
